Carlton S. Ashby

A Leader In the Room

Ashby attended Hampton University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. After a decade of teaching on the primary level, Carlton attended the College of William & Mary where he earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Guidance & Counseling. His degree in Counseling is applied to classroom instruction and assisting teachers develop internal motivation in the 21st Century student.

Because of his love for teaching, Carlton chose to remain inn the classroom as a Public School Teacher , and taught for 35 years.

Presently, he is a Preschool Enrichment Teacher at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton, Virginia.

Carlton also served as a Human Resource Trainer for Radisson Hotels. (During his tenure at the Radisson, the hotel won the President’s Award for Customer Service 6 consecutive years.)

With the assistance of C.W. Hines and Associates, Carlton developed a workshop entitled, Transformational Leadership Skills & Effective Instructional Practices for Teaching the African American Male in the 21st Century several years ago. This workshop experience assists teachers with understanding pedagogy that is successful and effective for connecting with and teaching African American Male Students.

Carlton has also developed additional workshop sessions which include How to Develop Internal Motivation in Today’s Youth, Successful Tips for Great Classroom Management, No Bullying Aloud, The Leader in Me!, and Preparing our Children to be Successful in the 21st Century.[/text_block]
